Position Summary:
The Marine Risk Analyst is responsible for assessing and analyzing potential risks associated with maritime operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves evaluating and monitoring the risks associated with vessel operations, cargo transportation, and marine insurance. The Marine Risk Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring the smooth and safe execution of maritime activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for maritime operations, including vessel operations, cargo transportation, and marine insurance.
2. Analyze and evaluate potential risks associated with vessel operations, such as accidents, natural disasters, piracy, and regulatory compliance.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify potential areas of risk within maritime operations and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
4. Develop and maintain risk management policies, procedures, and guidelines specific to maritime operations.
5. Monitor and assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation strategies and recommend improvements as required.
6. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to maritime risk management.
7. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential gaps in existing risk management practices.
8. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable international, national, and local regulations.
9. Provide expert advice and guidance on risk management strategies and best practices to support decision-making processes.
10. Prepare and present reports on risk assessments, trends, and mitigation strategies to senior management and other relevant stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in maritime risk management, preferably in a similar industry or role.
3. Strong understanding of maritime operations, including vessel operations, cargo transportation, and marine insurance.
4. In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and evaluate potential risks effectively.
6. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
8. Proficient in using risk assessment tools, software, and data analysis techniques.
9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
11. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
12. Professional certifications related to maritime risk management or similar qualifications are preferred.
